Enjoy this set, as it might be the last one. The server upkeep costs are high and nobody is donating any money, so BB and Xeno have to pay more or less for everything. Of course, if everyone donated something like 10 Bucks a month... (for those of you who didn't get the hint, please donate and there will be more sets but currently it doesn't look too great).

i would donate in a heartbeat if i wasnt out of a job with a hugely negative net wealth..

do we know if the source code wil make a reappearance elsewhere?

The source code for Magellan Wars will not be made publically availible, as we might want to work with it in the future. However, without a heavy amount of donations (say, if everyone who plays donates 5 dollars each,) I dont see it running on it's current modules and server, and hence it will be shut down for the public and moved to a low cost server that can not handle the code being used to actually play.

I know that alot of you who plays are in financial difficulties, but so is the staff, and it's still seen as fair that we pay, so I don't see how you, those who benefit from our work, can't find 5 dollars in your budget to help keep this game running...

Yeah unfortunately BB is right... me and him have been paying a lot to keep this game going but it is looking grim. We are all still young and in a transition phase in our lives. If I were 5 years older with a steady career I wouldn't care to pay for this game. However I am not lol... Any donation would be great and we will definitely not abuse it. We just want enough to keep the server going. Me and BB of course will pay the difference if we come up short. However think about this... A lot is in the works for this game and there are many cool ideas going around. Even if the game shuts down most of us will continue to work on the game. I know I will! Just so you guys know I have a very busy schedule and I find the time to run a council and teach players because this game means a lot to me. If you find time to play then maybe find 5 bucks to donate as well. As much time as you spend playing 5 bucks is nothing.

I've played this game ever since it was called Archspace back in 2004. I had shock and awe to see it back online in a new incarnation after it went down originally. I'm a Techanoid at heart. There is no game that can replace this, and I want to see it continue.

I get paid weekend after next. I'm gonna slip 20 bucks under your door.

May I ask, how much does the server cost to run in its current capacity? I've worked with social networking and art hosting websites reportedly running $400 - $2000 a month. I'd expect this wouldn't be quite that much yes?

The server costs 221 dollars per month.

When Archspace went offline, I had offered the person who got the game code to run it off this nice dedicated server I pay $800 for and would have kept doing so without the needs for donations or advertising.

I am on a very strict and limited budget since I am living on the monies I get from the disability board and I have found $5 that I could donate, so what is the problem for the rest of you? This is a very addicting game as are the people I have come to know over the past 10 years addicting that is lol
