As more algebraic algorithms and variables requiring calculation appeared, they required more and more computing power. The underlying principles of the optical computer were unchanged old principles, but new technology utilizing particles of light to heighten performance and accuracy were added. Optical science was considered of primary importance in the past, but its reality took time to be realized, due to the characteristics of light particles. This science contributed largely to the advancement of computer technology.
